The Woman & the Dragon

A question readers ask

Is Jared Kushner the Antichrist?

My short answer: no. In my proposal he is not the Antichrist but the second beast, the false prophet, and even that is a possibility to be tested, not a verdict.

The short answer

Revelation 13 describes two beasts. The first, from the sea, is the one the tradition calls the Antichrist: the ruler who receives the dragon's power and is worshiped. The second, from the earth, "had two horns like a lamb's but spoke like a dragon," and it "made the earth and its inhabitants worship the first beast" (Revelation 13:11–12). Later Revelation calls it the false prophet (16:13; 19:20).

My proposal is that the first beast is Donald J. Trump and the second, the false prophet, is Jared Kushner. So my answer to the question is no: I do not read him as the Antichrist, but as the one who serves him. The Church has not identified the Antichrist or the false prophet with anyone living, and nothing here speaks for her (CCC 675–677).

How I grade it

I weigh the second beast mark by mark, and grade each one possible or probable, never settled.

What I do not use

His Jewish faith and his people have no place in this reading. The Church teaches that the Jewish people are not to be presented as rejected or accursed, and she deplores every form of antisemitism (Nostra Aetate 4). Words and deeds are weighed here, never souls (CCC 1861).
